Why do we need the Building Blocks Centre?

Building Blocks from Tempest RoadThe original idea for a Parents’ Resource Centre came out of the experience of local people, some of whom are now members of our Management Committee. However, it has rapidly expanded into a nursery/crèche and playgroup facility with additional activities for parents and pre-school children such as our highly popular 'music and movement' sessions.

Sam WithillOur Centre manager Helen Bishop and our childcare manager Sam Withill welcome parents and children from all ethnic and faith backgrounds and liaise with OFSTED, local statutory services, FE colleges, the local Sure Start team and other partner organisations, as well as organising work with parents and children at other locations in Leeds 11.

The purpose of our work with parents and young children reflects Faith Together in Leeds 11’s objectives of improving educational attainment by providing high quality childcare and support for working and non-working parents.

Community Facilities

The project also provides community facilities to be used – out of hours during evenings and weekends – in whatever way the local community wishes to develop them.
